mystery and exploration

i have one again been inspired to do something.

i was watching a true crime case, this time with full attention rather than background noise. and something about the rural community setting really made me ponder.

a few months ago i watched this explorer guy go to an abandoned church/castle and found a monk with two dogs. i thought that was pretty cool.

i remember watching a youtube video about "michealsoft binbows" and thought about how deep someone can fall into a seemingly stupid rabbit hole.

then i thought about the time i spent with my friend in gimli, exploring his grandfathers abandoned warehouse.

what do all of these have in common? i guess some sort of mystery, and the power of curiosity. maybe less on curiosity regarding the true crime case.

ive always been a fan of mysteries; lemmino was one of my favourite youtubers as a kid. the supernatural and extraterrestrial have always intrigued me.

back to the true crime case, i thought the map graphics were really well done, and that goes for all the youtube videos ive watched with bird's eye view graphics or google maps usage. i thought about all the mysteries that just lay in the world, and that are picked up by these satellites. theyre just waiting to be found!

ive found plenty of nooks and crannies in my life, special places that i hold dear to my heart. a lone bench in a park, a small trail underneath a bridge, a small triangular patch of land wedged in between bustling roadways.

EXPLORATION

i love exploring, i remember when i first began a couple summers ago with my previously mentioned friend. we started with long walks, then we moved to bike rides. our first adventure ever was finding aperture science from portal! (some wacko named their home aperture science laboratories) from then on we travelled around in our seemingly boring city.

i constantly hear complaints from my other friends that "this place is so boring!" but they haven't explored enough! but i digress, im going off topic!

the thing i was inspired to do was to look for mystery. or ask more questions. i have found many mysterious things on my adventures with my friend, but i havent really pondered on them. somewhere 30 minutes away is an unmarked cemetery like thing. i dont know too much about it, but i think its neat.

one weekend while my friend had a shift i had biked around the city. i biked until i reached the highways exiting the city before looping back. there is this one power plant that has a baseball field off to the side. its always such a jarring sight, but i think its unique and beautiful.

i continued on this bike ride of mine until my friend finished his shift.

he took me down back to my favourite spot with the bridge and trains, i call it the meat district since theres a meat factory (they make meat.) theres a weird patch of grass only accessible with bikes, though there are roads near there is no turn. its at an intersection and i told my friend we should go right next time. we continued biking and biked by the weird apartments that were low to the ground and a dull yellow colour. and we biked some more. on our way there we crossed the backs of some factories i believe we were not supposed to be in.

on our way back home he tells me about a shortcut, and i follow. we take some sketchy side roads through some of the factories and such. we find a little bike trail that had remnants of trash dumping, many broken electronics and left over furniture. my concern shot up when we saw two unattended bikes in the middle of the path. i whispered to my friend, terrified if there will be people waiting on the other side (they were under a small bridge.) mustering up my remaining strength as i had already been biking for hours, we sped by the bikes.

that was a long set up to tell you about the mystery of the bikes. but i do like the mystery of the "meat district."

actually, our first adventure to the "meat district" was what originally sparked my creativity. the view of the bridge really made me want to start writing, at least in this weird, disjointed, unfocused way.
